Large and small joints place different demands on professional product selection. The Hya-ject range offers various pre-filled hyaluronic acid syringes for this purpose: Hya-ject, Hya-ject Plus, and Hya-ject Mini. The differences lie not only in the syringe volume, but also in concentration, composition, and intended area of application.
Hya-ject: 20 mg in a 2 ml pre-filled syringe
Hya-ject 20 mg/2 ml is a pre-filled hyaluronic acid syringe for professional joint applications in osteoarthritis. The formulation contains 1% hyaluronic acid derived from fermentation.
The version offered contains 20 mg in 2 ml. As such, it forms the 2 ml version with a concentration of 1% within this product overview.
Hya-ject Plus: 40 mg sodium hyaluronate and mannitol
Hya-ject Plus contains a viscoelastic solution with 2% sodium hyaluronate. One sterile pre-filled syringe contains 40 mg in 2 ml. The solution also contains mannitol.
The instructions for use mention pain and restricted mobility in osteoarthritis of the knee and other large synovial joints, such as the hip and shoulder. The sodium hyaluronate is obtained via fermentation and is free of animal proteins.
With the same syringe volume, the Plus version contains more sodium hyaluronate than Hya-ject 20 mg/2 ml. The additional mannitol component is another difference in the formulation.
Hya-ject Mini: specific focus for small joints
Hya-ject Mini is a viscoelastic solution with 1% sodium hyaluronate for use in small joints. The sterile pre-filled syringe contains 10 mg of sodium hyaluronate in 1 ml.
The instructions for use mention pain and restricted mobility in degenerative and traumatic changes of small synovial joints. Examples mentioned include the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb, interphalangeal joints of the fingers and toes, and the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe.
The sodium hyaluronate is derived from fermentation and is free of animal proteins. Mini is therefore not simply a smaller pack size, but a version with its own joint-specific focus.
